As part of the Totally Terrific Tomato Festival we are running a tomato growers competition!

We are accepting entries on Friday 17th from 9.30am – 4.30pm & Saturday 18th August from 10am-12pm.
The tomatoes will be judged at 1pm on Saturday 18th by our expert panel.

The categories are as follows:

1. Classic medium round type (dish of 5)

2. Continental beefsteak type (dish of 3)

3. Cherry or plum type (dish of 5)

4. Best complete truss of tomatoes 

5. Ugliest/Weirdest tomato!                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                            

Please bring your competition entries to the Visitor Centre reception and we will put them on display in the Teak House.

This year’s display will proudly feature the following tomatoes, all grown by the nursery team in the National Botanic Gardens of Ireland, Glasnevin:

If you happen to have any varieties that are not on this list we would love to see them! Bring them in on Friday 17th August during opening hours or Saturday 18th August between 10am -12pm. There will be prizes for tomatoes added to the display!
