Guided Tour: Plant Palaces – Garden Glasshouses
Since the 16th century, fascination with tropical plant species and how to grow them in our climate lead some of the finest minds in Europe to create suitable structures to house and conserve them.
In the 19th century plants from almost every continent on the planet were brought to Britain and Ireland and the palaces we built to house those plants reached the pinnacle of engineering and architectural achievement of the time.
Join us for this tour to discover the history and development of the glasshouses here at Glasnevin and discover some of the remarkable plants that are sheltered in these constructed environments.
