Annual National Tree Week Lecture: "Trees" by Matthew Jebb

Annual National Tree Week Lecture

Monday 4th March 2024 at 3.00pm

“Trees”

To celebrate National Tree Week, Matthew Jebb will talk about some of the earliest, oldest, largest and rarest of trees on our planet. One of the more amazing discoveries about trees in recent years is that we now estimate there are 73,000 species of tree of which 9,000 species are yet to be described scientifically.  This highlights the strange fact that the commonness of rarity and the rarity of commonness are two of the most remarkable facts we have learnt about trees.
