Artefact DescriptionBeautifully made broom from rush stems, inflorescence and seeds. Juncus sp. is a very common rush species in Ireland. It is primarily used for basket making, weaving, string and thatch but the pith of the stem was also used medicinally to treat inflammation, infections, digestive, genitourinary and muscular/skeletal disorders.
