D. deltoides was introduced in a seed mixture of English origin used in the rehabilitation of cement kiln waste mounds near Drogheda, Co. Louth in 1989; the vegetation there became grass-dominated by 1993 (Good & Wistow 1997).

A remarkable railway colonist.

SR By 1897-98, on railway ballast and near railways in 7, 10, 13, 14, 18, 19 and 25 (Praeger 1898b, Phillips 1898b, Cyb 1898); this railway colonist spread rapidly, particularly in the central plain, and was found in some 16 vice-counties by early 1900s (Praeger 1900a, 1900c, 1905b, 1909a, Phillips 1901a, ITB 1901, FDub 1904); spraying of tracks resulted in its decline, with few new vice-county records (e.g. Praeger 1929b, 1934b, 1946, Cole 1939b, Brunker 1950).
